THE LOGO

The "House" in the logo was the shelter Billy offered to those, like himself, that had no home. All that was required to enter the "House" was a desire to stop drinking.

The name of the "House" was carefully chosen and included the word "Welcome" - a word that was foreign to the clients that entered. For Many, it was the only place they were welcome. Chapter five of the "Big Book" of Alcoholics anonymous is titled "How it Works". Honesty, Open Mindedness and Willingness became the "House of Welcome" - H.O.W. The founders of the "House" were convinced that the only therapy that would work with the clients was available at Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) and A.A. became the corner stone of the program. (Today, A.A. is still the corner stone). "Milieu Therapy" was, along with A.A., the main component for the program.
